Interlibrary Loan Policies & Procedures: Notifications & Delivery

This is a guide to the requirements and policies for using InterLibrary Loan through the New Mexico State Library.

How will you be notified about ILL loans?

NM Libraries

Loans: You will receive email notification that an item has shipped. Occasionally, you may receive the item prior to receiving the email; however, the shipped email is still sent and will contain the lender's mailing information, which is helpful when returning items. (If a book appears to be taking a long time to get to you, please call or email us and we can check the status of a request for you personally.)

Articles: You will receive an email when your article is available. The email will direct you to your ILLiad account where you can view it under “electronically received articles.”

State Employees

Loans: Notification will be sent via email when any requested items are available for pickup. For state employees local to Santa Fe, books will be available at the New Mexico State Library reference desk. (State employees outside of Santa Fe can choose to have their books shipped to their office.)

Articles: Notification will be sent via email when your article is available. The email will provide direction on how to access a PDF file from your ILLiad account where it can be viewed under the “electronically received articles."

Independent Researchers

Loans: Notifications will be sent via email or phone when ILL items become available for pickup. Items will be held at the New Mexico State Library reference desk.

Articles: Articles will be emailed to you when they are available.  You can arrange to have articles printed out in instances where emailing is not an option.
