2020 Census Information and Resources for Libraries: Census Self-Response by State Map / Response Outreach Area Mapper / Hard to Count Map

Useful resources to prepare for the 2020 Census

Census Self-Response by State Map

As people begin responding to the 2020 Census online, by phone, or by mail in mid-March, the Census Bureau will update the map daily to reflect the percentage of households that self-respond online, by phone, or by mail after being invited to do so.

Response Outreach Area Mapper (ROAM)

The Census Bureau’s Response Outreach Area Mapper (ROAM) application was developed to make it easier to identify hard-to-survey areas.

Hard to Count Map (HTC)

The goal of this map is to highlight the areas of the country that are hardest to count, and to provide information to local, regional/statewide, & national organizations who are working to make sure these hard-to-count areas & populations are fully counted to help ensure a fair and accurate census.
