Interlibrary Loan Policies & Procedures: Introduction

This is a guide to the requirements and policies for using InterLibrary Loan through the New Mexico State Library.

Introduction to Interlibrary Loan

What is Interlibrary Loan?

Interlibrary Loan (ILL) involves the borrowing and lending of books, articles, and audiovisual materials between libraries to supplement the reading and research needs of patrons. The New Mexico State Library provides ILL services to New Mexican rural, tribal, and correctional libraries. State employees and independent researchers can access state or Federal documents, books about Southwest history, genealogy, and culture.

The interlibrary loan department accepts ILL requests through ILLiad, which functions as an interface between the state library and our patrons. The ILLiad provides a record of past ILL requests and the status of current requests. State employees and New Mexico libraries can access ILL services through the ILLiad Logon
