Interlibrary Loan Policies & Procedures: Quantity & Cost

This is a guide to the requirements and policies for using InterLibrary Loan through the New Mexico State Library.

How many active requests can we have?  How much does ILL service cost?

Quantity

- New Mexico Libraries -

Libraries are allowed 25 active requests at a time.

An active request is any request from the moment it is submitted to when the item is returned. If you reach the limit, you will be allowed to request more items when returned items are marked as checked in on ILLiad by NSML.  (See the “returning” section for further details.)

- State Employees & Independent Researchers -

Government employees are allowed 10 active requests at a time.

If the request limit is reached, no more requests can be submitted until items are returned and checked in at the State Library.

Cost

The State Library does not charge any fees for ILL and only orders from libraries who do not charge fees in return so that ILL services can be provided free of charge.

$$ - If any ILL item is lost while it is in the possession of the borrower, the borrower will be held responsible for paying the invoice for that item .(See the "Overdues & Lost Items" section for more information.)
