Interlibrary Loan Policies & Procedures: Introduction

This is a guide to the requirements and policies for using InterLibrary Loan through the New Mexico State Library.

What is Interlibrary Loan?

This message is specifically for those libraries that offer ILL service to their patrons through the State Library:

Due to current and upcoming staff shortages, the State Library will be pausing ILL operations beginning April 1 and continuing through May 31, 2023. We regret the inconvenience this may cause for your patrons and we look forward to providing ILL service again in the summer.

This pause will not impact your eligibility for State Grants in Aid.

If you have any questions, please contact us at NMSLInterlibraryLoan@dca.nm.gov

Interlibrary Loan Workflow

ILL

Interlibrary Loan (ILL) is the cooperative service of libraries across the globe to share books, articles, and other library materials for the benefit of their patrons and their interests.

The New Mexico State Library provides ILL services for our many rural librariestribal libraries, and correctional facilities, in addition to our state employees, and to independent researchers.

We accept ILL requests through ILLiad, which serves as an interface between the ILL Department and our patrons. It provides a record of past ILL requests and the status of current requests.
