New Mexico Legal Aid can provide information to victims of domestic violence and consider applications for family law legal help. The Domestic Violence, Sexual Assault, and Stalking Helpline is 1-877-974-3400, Monday - Friday from 9:00 a.m.-5:00 p.m.

Definition: "Domestic violence is often defined broadly to include “all acts of physical, sexual, emotional, psychological or economic violence” that may be committed by a family member or intimate partner."

Orders of Protection - An Order of Protection is a court order that prohibits a person from hurting, threatening or harassing another person.

Enlace Comunitario

Enlace Comunitario (enlacenm.org)

Enlace Comunitario was formed in 2000 as a social justice organization to support and help survivors of domestic violence (DV).Enlace Comunitario has focused on providing previously unavailable DV survivor services to Spanish-speaking immigrants and their families.

While Enlace specializes in culturally and linguistically specific survivor services, we provide support to any DV survivor in need.

Coalition to Stop Violence Against Native Women

Coalition to Stop Violence Against Native Women is committed to stopping violence against Native women and children by advocating for social change and providing "support, education, and advocacy using our strengths, power, and unity to create violence-free communities" for Native women and children. 

Organized in 1996 by three founding Native women, the Coalition to Stop Violence Against Native Women (CSVANW) was created to provide support to other Native advocates working in domestic violence, sexual assault, dating violence, stalking and sex trafficking in New Mexico’s tribal communities. Their single goal: to eliminate violence against Native women and children. 

New Mexico Coalition Against Domestic Violence

New Mexico Coalition Against Domestic Violence (nmcadv.org) NMCSAP provides education, support, and advocacy to address all aspects of preventing and responding to sexual violence in NM from an anti-racist, anti-oppression foundation. NMCSAP and our partners empower and support New Mexicans in preventing, responding to, and healing from sexual violence with a data-driven, evidence-based, social justice response. This response emphasizes the incidence and prevalence of sexual violence, social determinants, health outcomes, protective factors, legal and programmatic intervention, treatment, collaboration, and primary prevention.

New Mexico Coalition of Sexual Assault Programs, Inc.

New Mexico Coalition of Sexual Assault Programs, Inc. (NMCSAP) "serves as a comprehensive clearinghouse, providing a variety of resources to assist in preventing and responding to sexual violence. Survivors, service providers, the media, non-profit and governmental organizations and the general public find our resources current, relevant and helpful." The Coalition provides Sexual Assault Evidence Collection Kits with a video which details the proper collection of evidence. The mission of NMCSAP is "To prevent sexual violence through education, communication, collaboration, and community action by focusing on healthy relationships, gender equity, cultural strengths, and respect for others."

Center of Protective Environment, Inc. (COPE) is the nonprofit domestic violence agency for Otero and Lincoln Counties, New Mexico. The Center of Protective Environment, Inc. Albuquerque

Enlace Comunitario is a social justice organization led by Latina immigrants in Central New Mexico. Our mission is to work to eliminate domestic violence in the Latino immigrant community. (505) 246-8972

S.A.F.E. House is New Mexico's largest shelter for survivors of intimate partner domestic violence offering 90 days of lodging and comprehensive services. (505) 247-4219

Allentown

Haven House, Inc. is a domestic violence shelter in Sandoval County, providing emergency shelter, case management, support groups, life skills classes, legal advocacy, job referrals, housing assistance, therapeutic counseling, and children's programs. (505) 896-4869

Artesia

Grammy's House Artesia Domestic Violence Shelter Inc. is a domestic violence shelter located in Artesia, NM. Our mission is to provide a safe environment and empower victims of domestic violence, as well as educate the community about the effects of domestic violence. (575) 748-1198

Carlsbad

Carlsbad Battered Families Shelter, Inc. is a non-profit agency that provides specialized services for victims of domestic violence, child victim witnesses, and individuals who have perpetrated violence. (575) 885-4615

Clovis

Hartley House is a domestic violence shelter that provides physical and emotional refuge and advocates freedom from violence through education, intervention, and treatment. They offer services such as shelter, advocacy, crisis hotline, care, and support. (575) 762-0050.

Deming

The Healing House The mission of the Luna County Healing House is to assist victims and Survivors of domestic violence by providing emergency shelter, emotional support, case management and diversified programs designed to increase safety, independence, self-sufficiency and self-empowerment. Espanola

Crisis Center of Northern New Mexico has been providing domestic violence services for the counties of Rio Arriba, Los Alamos, and Santa Fe. CCNNM provides shelter, crisis intervention, counselling, case management and legal advocacy. (505) 753-1656 

Farmington

Family Crisis Center (FCC) is a 501(c)(3) agency and comprehensive domestic violence service provider, offering a broad range of services geared toward response to the crisis of domestic violence. Services are provided at two facilities including Marge's Place, a protective shelter for victims of domestic violence and their children, and our Counseling Center which provides services and support to victims, child witnesses, and offenders. Gallup

Battered Families Service, Inc. empowers and advocates for the safety of women and children who are exposed to domestic violence. They provide a safe environment and offer help to those in crisis. (505) 722-6389

Roberta's Place is a non-profit organization based in Grants, NM, dedicated to providing support and assistance to victims of domestic violence. Our mission is to empower and advocate for battered women, offering a safe haven and resources to help them. (505) 287-7200

Hobbs

Option, Inc. Providing shelter and assistance to victims of domestic violence for Lea County. The essential services, which include emergency shelter, crisis intervention and advocacy, have provided the foundation from which Option, Inc. has built its services Additional services include facilitation, (individual and group), transitional housing, food, clothing, transportation, assistance with acquiring protective orders, and working through education with offenders. Las Cruces

Los Lunas

Valencia Shelter Services began in 1989 as a crisis line to help women experiencing domestic violence to find shelter and resources to keep them safe. This agency has grown over the years to provide comprehensive services to hundreds of women, men, and children every year. Bi-lingual services available. 24-Hour Hotline 505-864-1383

Raton

Alternatives to Violence provides crisis intervention and ongoing services for those affected by domestic violence, with two locations in Raton and Clayton. (575) 445-5778

Roswell

The Roswell Refuge is a shelter for battered adults open 24/7 and provides temporary shelter for those adults and their children who are victims of domestic violence. Advocates are always available to provide service to those in need of assistance. (575) 627-8361.

Ruidoso Downs

HEAL & The Nest Help End Abuse for Life, Inc. (HEAL) is a nonprofit organization that operates The Nest Domestic Violence Shelter. The shelter provides support and a safe haven for survivors of domestic violence and their families. (575) 378-6378

Santa Fe

Esperanza Shelter Support Center offers a 24-hour crisis line, emergency shelter, transitional housing, court advocacy services, and help for immigrants. (505) 473-5200

Silver City

El Refugio, Inc. operates the Casa Carmel Shelter for battered women/men and their children 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Temporary shelter is provided for up to 90 days with 30-day reviews. Safety and security are provided, along with case management services and educational programs. (575) 538-2125

Socorro

El Puente del Socorro is a non-profit domestic violence organization that provides services and shelter for survivors and domestic violence, as well as advocacy, and group counseling for offenders. (575) 835-0928

Taos 

Community Against Violence (CAV) offers a 24-Hour HELPline (575) 758-9888 and 24-Hour TEXTline (575) 770-2706 for survivors of domestic and sexual violence. CAV provides legal and medical advocacy services, counseling and support groups, children’s programs, community prevention and outreach programs, and are able to provide information and resources for those in need. CAV also has an on-site emergency shelter for adults and children and offers short and long-term transitional housing programs. Truth or Consequences

Domestic Abuse Intervention Center, Inc., is a domestic abuse intervention center that provides support and assistance to individuals affected by domestic violence/abuse.

They have trained advocates available 24/7 to talk over the phone and offer services such as victim support services, life coaching for survivors, and a batterer's intervention program. (575) 894-3557
