Hear all about it: COVID-19 and Evictions in New Mexico
SBNM is Hear is the official podcast of the State Bar of New Mexico. These companion episodes were produced by the SBNM Legal Services and Programs Committee and New Mexico Legal Aid. In these episodes, hear all about two big topics surrounding COVID-19: evictions and unemployment insurance. These brief Q&A sessions will be for legal professionals who do not practice in this area of law and/or members of the public who want to learn more about state updates regarding these topics. This is by no means an exhaustive episode of information nor is it formal legal advice. These episodes are a guide to some basic misconceptions about the eviction process and unemployment insurance during this time (recorded August of 2020).

Bernalillo County Metropolitan Court New Landlord-Tenant Settlement Program
A mediation program specifically for people involved in landlord-tenant disputes was launched earlier this month. Those interested in participating in the Landlord-Tenant Settlement Program are asked to contact the court’s Mediation Division at: 505-841-8167.
The Landlord-Tenant Settlement Program will give landlords and tenants the opportunity to work out business agreements beneficial to both sides. To be eligible, participants must have an active landlord-tenant case in the Metropolitan Court. The service is free, and parties in a case will work with a volunteer settlement facilitator specially trained in housing matters. Many of the facilitators are retired judges and experienced attorneys who will provide services pro bono.
